Picture Me Thriving is Word is Bond’s second volume of youth and law enforcement poetry. The book is packed full of powerful original works written by rising Black men and law enforcement officers who participated in the summer 2021 Rising Leader’s internship program. Picture Me Thriving strikingly highlights and centers the experiences of rising Black men while weaving in the perspectives of law enforcement officers that invites readers into a powerful dialogue of race, justice and ultimately hope.

Picture Me Thriving is about envisioning our best selves while questioning the constructs that hold society together. As one writer in the book shares “Is there a way to pursue the goals I want to achieve, or is the American Dream a lie suckers like me are meant to believe?” Picture Me Thriving doesn’t offer a blueprint to healing the relationships between the Black community and law enforcement, it is an ode to leaders fiercely struggling to make a change.
